Without a league fixture the Stags were on the travels again, this time at Old Brodleians. After winning the toss the Stags started slowly and after 10 minutes of OB's pressure the Stags conceded after a defensive lapse. OB added a penalty before scoring their second try which this time was converted. The greens then picked up there game but for all the pressure & teritory a score wouldn't come. Two scunny players then had to leave the field of player after violent incidents.
Half Time: OB's 15 - Stags 0
The Greens started the 2nd half brightly, going very close with an excellent driving maul, but the referee deemed the ball not to be grounded correctly. From the resulting scrum a slick backs move saw Tom Hughes, after excellent work from Morgan Davies, went over for an unconverted score. OB's added two further penalties before the Stags scored their second try. This was an outstanding forwards try with Stuart Foot enjoying some great ball in the lineout, setting the maul which was expertly directed and scored by the evergreen Mick Dunk, with Nick Hill powerfully forcing the No8 through the gap. Converted by Tom Aldridge. A resilient Greens backline kept breaking the gainline, breaks by Jason Scheepers and M Davies particulary threating, but after the resulting phases of play the try wouldn't come. OBs added another penalty to finish the contest.
Full Time: OB - 24 Stags - 12
A special mention must go to openside flanker Callum Davies who after the interval slotted into lock, with his lineout work in particular outstanding on both the Stags throw and the oppositions.
Tries - Tom Hughes; Mick Dunk;
Conversions - Tom Aldridge;
Penalties - Tom Aldridge;
Yellow Card - Nick Syddall
