I've just looked up "sully" in the Cambridge advanced learners dictionary and I quote "Sully" 1. To spoil something or someone's perfect reputation or purity: 2. To make something dirty:

It also means defame:
charge falsely or with malicious intent; attack the good name and reputation of someone.
Now thats something which happens in most of these posts. (Joe Murphy etc).
Sullying pecker is something thats deffinately allowed though.
